Is this guy purposeley trying to confuse me to hide his true feelings?

Theres this guy i like and i think he knows i do to, like when we look straight at eachother its as though there is something "going on", not sure whether he likes me back or it's him being scared of me- he's super shy btw, like he dunt speak alot , even to clmates. But he turns around in cl alot like looking at my work and stuff, but wont ever directly look me in the eye in cl ( we've only stared into eachothers eyes in the corridors).He blushes aswel when we see eachother. We've said hi on the odd occasion but he seems to be all shy and wants to get away. Anywayy my friend decided to add him on msn messenger ( coz im ded shy aswel, so my friend was fed up with me! lol) and he seemed to know a lot about me, like he knew who my friend was even though they had never met coz he goes ohh your ellen's friend aren't you? the only time they wud of seen eachother is with me, but she didnt have a profile pic or anything and he wudent of known her name. So they had a bit of a chat about me and he goes ' yeah she's the one who always looks at me lol' but he's the one who looks at me alot! Like the other day we were all stood waiting to go into this exam and he kept looking over, i glanced at first and noticed him staring back, then my friends let me know whenever he was doing it again, which was often! He ended up sat near me in the exam and he was in front of my friend and i smiled at my friend, and i saw him staring back looking ded shocked coz he thought i was smiling at him. Is he tryna twist things or is it me who he is scared of and tryna get me away from him?
